Permaculture and Ayurveda both inspire an interplay with nature and energy. Permaculture design aims for living spaces that encompasses garden production systems which works harmoniously with nature to meet human needs. Design objectives are meant to Maximize our garden yields and living settlement functionality, for a more peaceful and regenerative lifestyle.
We acknowledge the Sun shining down transforms energy to be utilized for a plant to grow, the winds that blow and allows for the old leaves to fall and return to the soil as organic matter or mulch, the skin of the Earth the soil serves as the womb to a seed, water activates the nutrients within the soil for the seed to give birth to a plant. We can see All of the elements are utilized to allow life to take form in our environment.
In Ayurvedic earth based medicine the elements are not only working around us in the environment of the Earth , rather they are also working with in us.

Combined Elements create a Dosha " force that changes" .
In our body we can see the Elements of Air and Ether show up as Vata Dosha which is in charge of coordinating all nervous system and informational related functions going on in the brain and nervous system , the ability to breath, movement of hormonal messages, pancreatic enzymatic actions, carrier of nutrients , The air which causes peristalsis in the digestive process at times felt as " gas". In our environment We can see Vata dosha as the natural currents of wind that travel through the Ether of the Earth guiding wildlife and organizing information as it creates direction through movement and flow.
Combined Elements of Fire and Water create Pitta Dosha . We can see Pitta in the first stages of evolutive creation when the first sun rays hitting the surface of the water allowed the perfect environment for single celled organis
ms to occur. In the same form the fire energy in our body is the element that acts as a transformer and it is the water that serves as the vessel. The production of bile and hydrochloric acid in the stomach during digestion Is liquid fire which transforms solid foods into energy for the body to utilize . It is also the radiant energy which allows us to manifest and pursue the completion of our goals and dreams.
Earth and Water create Kapha , like Mudd that lubricates the rocky Earth , Kapha lubricates and protects the lining of our trachea , lungs and intestines with mucus. If itwas not for mucus we would be like dryed out , cracking eroded rocky soils with no protection , no lubrication , no life. Kapha is this protective sheat that allows our food to slide down the throat , our feces to move smoothly out the colon and the saliva that activates first stage of digestion as we chew. It is also the synovial fluid that surrounds our Joints and keeps our bones from collapsing into each other. All of our organs contain lubricating fluids which maintain a proper level of moisture to enable cellular processes.
In the experience of the ever changing physical nature we live in as humans in 3 rd dimensional planes we resemble the earth with constant weather and climate fluctuations which are influenced by the actions in an environment. In the Earth we can see that The more toxic the environment and polluted it is, the elements go out of balance. To much rain as floods or too-much heat and radiation as sun flares, too much wind in storms and vice versa. As above so below. the more we pay attention to our individual climates or our individual combination of elements which make up a unique constitution that we are born with. The better we familiarize with these inner elements and the effects they have upon our body's and minds the more we can manage our environment to keep the elements in balance.
